Vice President Sara Duterte’s public satisfaction rating improved marginally to 73% in December 2023, as reported by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey. This slight increase from her September 2023 rating of 72% reflects a steady approval of her performance among the Philippine populace. The survey, which also showed a 12% dissatisfaction and 14% undecided, resulted in a net satisfaction rate of 61% for Duterte, categorizing her performance as “very good.”

Duterte’s satisfaction score stands out compared to other top government officials, leading Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, Speaker Martin Romualdez, and Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo by significant margins. Regionally, she enjoyed the highest approval in Mindanao, her political stronghold, with notable gains in Balance Luzon compared to her previous ratings.

The detailed survey data also revealed Duterte’s broad-based support across various demographics, particularly strong among those with lower educational attainment and middle-aged respondents. This consistent support highlights her appeal as a public figure and her impact as Education Secretary.

The SWS survey’s results, conducted through face-to-face interviews across the nation, underline the nuanced public sentiment towards political figures and serve as a barometer for the government’s standing with the Filipino people.
