One week after Typhoon Odette
left massive destruction in Cebu,
the Visayan Electric as of 12 noon today, December 22, 2021 was able to energize 4,175 out of the 474,182 affected customers.
VECO also reported that 93 or 17.1% out of the 544 power line segments within their franchise area were restored.
“Restoration is taking longer in areas where Visayan Electric’s distribution facilities sustained heavy damage such as toppled poles, downed wires, and damaged transformers,” said VECO in their Facebook post.
The country’s second largest power distributor added that their linemen together with the engineers and crews from various distribution utilities from all over the country, have been working round the clock to clear lines and restore power at the soonest and safest time.-(April Therese Tan)
