Tropical Storm Kristine has wreaked havoc across several provinces in the Bicol Region, with Naga City, Camarines Sur, bearing the brunt of severe flooding.

As reported by John Consulta during GMA’s special coverage on Wednesday, rescue operations are ongoing to assist residents trapped in their homes due to rising floodwaters. The local disaster risk reduction and management office revealed that approximately 30% of Naga’s land area is submerged, affecting 70% of the city’s population.

The flooding was triggered by a combination of heavy rainfall, high tides, the overflowing Bicol River, and water spilling from Mount Isarog, according to local authorities.

The storm also caused widespread power outages throughout Naga. In one subdivision, floodwaters were so strong that vehicles were toppled over and swept away.

Tropical Storm Kristine has claimed three lives in the Bicol Region, with one person injured, according to the Police Regional Office 5 and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) as of Wednesday morning.
