Eight police chiefs across Metro Manila have been relieved of their duties for failing to implement the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) “Five-Minute Response Time” policy, according to a report by Super Radyo dzBB.
PNP Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III confirmed the dismissals, saying the officers outright refused to comply with the new mandate. The removed officials were stationed in the cities of Navotas, Caloocan, Valenzuela, Mandaluyong, Marikina, San Juan, Parañaque, and Makati, according to PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo.
Torre also warned that more officials, including provincial directors in Central Visayas, could face removal for non-compliance. He assured the public that replacements for the dismissed chiefs are already prepared.
The “5-Minute Response” policy aims to transform traditional precinct-based policing into a mobile and proactive system that ensures swift, round-the-clock police assistance to the public.
