AiAi delas Alas has confirmed her separation from husband Gerald Sibayan. Speaking candidly on “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda” on Monday, the Comedy Queen shared that the couple parted ways in October, citing Gerald’s desire to have children as a key reason for the split.
“Hiwalay na kami. Last month pa. October 14, nag-chat siya, madaling araw sa Pilipinas. Sinabi niya na gusto niya magkaanak at hindi na siya happy,” AiAi recounted. Surprised by the timing, she added, “Medyo shocked ako… Sana hinintay mo man lang ako makauwi sa Amerika.”
AiAi also revealed their emotional journey attempting to conceive via in vitro fertilization (IVF). Despite having three embryos, they tragically lost two, which deeply affected Gerald. The actress shared her hope to one day surprise him with their remaining embryo, an idea she believes may have contributed to his decision.
Amid the split, AiAi dismissed rumors that she would request the revocation of Gerald’s U.S. green card, which she had petitioned for following their marriage in 2017. “Hindi ko naman gagawin ‘yun. Siyempre husband ko pa rin siya,” she said, emphasizing that supporting his legal status was her way of helping him.
AiAi, a U.S. green card holder since 2015, and Gerald celebrated their 10-year relationship anniversary in April, renewing their vows in Las Vegas in 2022.
