Alas Pilipinas Women’s impressive run in the 2025 AVC Women’s Volleyball Nations Cup ended with a silver finish after falling to Vietnam in straight sets, 25-15, 25-17, 25-14, during the championship match held Saturday at the Dong Anh Gymnasium in Hanoi.
Vietnam’s dynamic duo, Bich Tuyen and Tran Thi Thanh Thuy (T4), dominated the match, powering the home team to its third consecutive Nations Cup title. Tuyen recorded 20 points from 16 attacks, two blocks, and two aces, while T4 chipped in 17 points with 13 attacks and three blocks.
Despite a strong effort, Alas Pilipinas couldn’t keep pace, especially in the second set where they managed to tie the score at 10-all before Vietnam surged ahead with an 11-3 run. In the final set, Vietnam maintained control, shutting down the Filipinas’ offense.
Alyssa Solomon led the Philippines with eight points, followed by Shaina Nitura with six, but no player reached double digits.
The silver medal remains a significant achievement for the Filipinas, who impressed throughout the tournament with notable wins over Mongolia, Indonesia, New Zealand, Kazakhstan, and Chinese Taipei.
