Authorities intercepted nearly ₱30 million worth of shabu from a female passenger who arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Saturday.

According to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the 43-year-old Filipina, identified by the alias “Lyn,” was caught with 4.368 kilograms of shabu concealed inside a makeshift black duct tape pouch hidden in her luggage. The confiscated drugs are valued at ₱29,702,400 and have been sent to the PDEA Laboratory Service for further testing.

Inquest proceedings have been initiated against the suspect for violating Section 4 of Republic Act 9165, which prohibits the importation of illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, PDEA continues to retrieve large volumes of “floating shabu” found in Philippine waters. Recent finds include ₱20.4 million worth of drugs surrendered by residents and fishermen in Ilocos Norte. Nationwide, over 1,243 kilograms of floating shabu, valued at more than ₱8.45 billion, have been turned over by citizens from several provinces.

PDEA Director General Isagani Nerez lauded the public and inter-agency cooperation, which he said strengthens the country’s defense against maritime drug smuggling.
