Alden Richards has returned to the Philippines after completing the shoot for “Hello, Love, Again” in Canada, the highly anticipated sequel to his hit film with Kathryn Bernardo, “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana.
In an interview reported by Aubrey Carampel on “24 Oras,” Alden shared his emotional experience on the last day of filming. “I felt a little bit sentimental, of course, with the place and ang haba ng time na magkakasama kami roon, so nagulat ako in an instant tapos na pala siya,” Alden said, reflecting on how quickly time flew by during their stay.
The Asia’s Multimedia Star also revealed that he grew closer to his co-stars, especially Kathryn Bernardo, during their time filming in Canada. “Mas naging solid, mas naging closer, mas nakilala namin ‘yung isa’t isa and at the same time parang, you know, you really get to know the person once you get to work with her in a set-up na matagal magkasama,” he explained, highlighting how the long shoot allowed them to build a stronger connection.
In “Hello, Love, Again,” Alden and Kathryn reprise their roles as Ethan and Joy, two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who met in Hong Kong and fell in love under challenging circumstances. The sequel takes place five years later, with Ethan and Joy crossing paths once again in Canada.
“When it comes to Joy and Ethan naman, without giving much spoiler, this is a more mature take on both characters,” Alden added, hinting at the evolved dynamics between the beloved characters.
The cast and crew arrived in Canada in late July to begin shooting, and Alden expressed how much he valued the experience of filming abroad with a tight-knit team.
“Hello, Love, Again,” marks the first collaboration between GMA Pictures and Star Cinema and is set to be released in the Philippines on November 13.
Now back in the Philippines, Alden has resumed work on the historical drama series “Pulang Araw,” where he stars as Eduardo, a Filipino-American who becomes a guerrilla fighter during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines. Speaking to “24 Oras,” Alden shared his excitement to continue filming for the series, which has been well-received by viewers.
