PARIS, France — Filipino tennis star Alex Eala and her Mexican partner Renata Zarazua bowed out of the 2025 French Open women’s doubles tournament after a straight-sets defeat to Serbia’s Olga Danilovic and Russia’s Anastasia Potapova, 6-1, 6-3, on Friday.

After dropping the first set, Eala and Zarazua mounted a short comeback in the second, recovering from a 4-0 deficit to win two consecutive games. They briefly extended the match by grabbing one more game, but Danilovic and Potapova held firm to close out the match.

The loss followed a solid first-round win for Eala and Zarazua, who had defeated Emily Appleton (UK) and Yvonne Cavalle-Reimers (Spain), 7-5, 6-4.

This match also marked the end of Eala’s Roland Garros campaign, as she had earlier exited in the first round of the singles competition after a three-set battle against Colombia’s Emiliana Arango.
