As of Sunday morning, only three dams in Luzon—Ambuklao, Binga, and Magat—were still releasing water, according to PAGASA’s Flood Forecasting and Warning Section. Each dam had one gate open as of 8:00 a.m.
Ambuklao Dam in Bokod, Benguet, maintained one gate open at 0.5 meters with a reservoir water level close to its spilling threshold at 751.78 meters. Similarly, Binga Dam in Itogon, Benguet, kept one gate open at 0.5 meters, its water level also nearing its spilling limit at 574.86 meters. Magat Dam, on the border of Ifugao and Isabela, had one gate open at 2.0 meters, with its reservoir level at 189.27 meters, below its 193-meter spilling level.
In contrast, Ipo Dam in Bulacan and San Roque Dam in Pangasinan and Benguet closed all their gates on Saturday. The recent rainfall from Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (internationally named Trami) had raised water levels, necessitating gate releases to prevent spillovers.
