President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is expected to share encouraging news for teachers and students during his third State of the Nation Address (SONA), according to newly-appointed Education Secretary Sonny Angara.

In a brief interview before the SONA, Angara hinted at a significant announcement from the President that will positively impact the education sector. “He values teachers and students so much, so he will say something that will make these people happy,” Angara stated.

Angara emphasized that the Department of Education’s immediate focus is to streamline the administrative tasks of teachers. He also mentioned that the Department is currently reviewing its proposed budget, with Congressional budget deliberations set to begin next week.

Earlier on Monday, Angara acknowledged the numerous challenges facing the education sector and emphasized the need for collective effort to address these issues.
