Entrepreneur and car enthusiast Angie Mead King had a close call on Thursday when her modified Acura NSX sports car unexpectedly caught fire while she was driving along the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX). King shared the incident on Instagram, posting footage of the extensively damaged vehicle parked near the Southwoods exit.
“This is such a crazy experience. The car is gone,” King said in an Instagram post. Later, she went live to assure followers of her safety, adding, “The car is dead, literally gone. Caught on fire after the exit.”
According to King, a passerby offered her a ride after the incident while SLEX personnel arranged for the car’s towing. She noted, “The car was on fire while I was driving it, and then it burst into flames. My lungs hurt, but I’m OK.”
The Acura NSX, a high-performance two-seater produced by Honda, was customized extensively, though King remains uncertain about the cause of the fire. “There’s nothing I can do. The car’s gone, and there’s no way to rebuild it,” she said.
