Arci Muñoz has defended her commitment as an Air Force reservist after a netizen accused her of only appearing “tough” on social media and questioned her readiness to defend the country. The actress, who shared photos of herself in uniform during Independence Day on June 12, responded to the criticism with a firm explanation.

In the comments, a netizen challenged Muñoz’s dedication, asking, “Question is, will you tread to mudd and bleed when the time comes to save our sovereignty? [It’s] so easy to look tough on [social media].”

Muñoz replied by clarifying the role of a reservist, emphasizing that it’s more about promoting peace than engaging in warfare. “Question is, did [you] even try to make an effort in serving your country? Do you even know why [reservists] exist? And our duty? Being in the force doesn’t mean you need to go to war; for me, it’s more [about] promoting peace. It’s so easy to talk shit and look tough on [social media], no?” she remarked.

The “StarStruck” alumna has previously addressed criticism regarding celebrities joining the military force, highlighting their influence and the impact of their participation. “So ginagawa ko lang kung ano yung iniatas sa akin na responsibilidad bilang isang Air Force Reservist. I think we are all doing our part. Siguro hindi lang sila masyadong nag-open up about it,” she told PEP.

“Alam niyo, yun pa lang bilang isang influencer, kasi that’s what we call ourselves somehow; we influence people; yun pa lang pagsali nila bilang isang reservist, undergoing that training; malaking bagay na yun; malaking tulong na rin yun,” added Muñoz.

In 2020, Muñoz earned the title of “sergeant” after completing her Basic Citizen Military Training at Clark Air Base.
