Following a recent health scare, Arnold Clavio, the Kapuso news anchor and radio host, shared an encouraging update on his condition. Clavio, who suffered a hemorrhagic stroke, assured his followers that he is now “out of danger.”
Timely Medical Intervention
Clavio explained that he reached the hospital within the critical six-hour window, allowing the brain attack team to promptly attend to him. “Pagkatapos ay iniakyat na ako sa Acute Stroke Unit (ASU). Doon ay mahigpit na babantayan ang aking blood pressure (BP) at blood sugar,” he said.
Medical Care and Recovery
For three days, Clavio was under the watchful eyes of a neurologist, cardiologist, and rehab doctor, who eventually determined that surgery was not necessary. The doctors explained that the “slight bleeding is in the thalamus area (left side) which is responsible for sensation and some muscle control, that’s why his right legs and arms had numbness and until now feels weak.”
Positive Prognosis
“Good news, I am out of danger,” Clavio shared. “Sabi nga ni Doc, ‘no more worries. The worst is over! You’re a lucky man!’” He added that his focus now is on lowering his BP and sugar levels. On his second day at the hospital, he was able to sit up, though he experienced dizziness.
Adjusting to New Realities
Clavio candidly described the significant lifestyle changes he’s undergoing, including using an adult diaper and adjusting to needing insulin. “Mahaba pa ang laban na ito. Ang laking pagbabago sa buhay ko habang nasa ASU. Bawal pa akong tumayo kaya kailangan ko na mag-adult diaper. Di ako komportable kaya inabot pa ng tatlong araw bago ako naka-pupu,” he said.
Despite these challenges, Clavio is optimistic about his recovery. “Abangan ang pag-graduate ko sa ASU at simula ng aking therapy at rehabilitation. At sana ang aking kuwento ay makapagligtas ng maraming buhay.”
Incident Details
Clavio first posted about his health scare on Friday, recounting how he felt a strange sensation on his right side while driving home after playing golf. He wisely decided to stop at the nearest hospital, where he was diagnosed with a hemorrhagic stroke and later transferred to a hospital in Metro Manila.
