Barbie Imperial and JM De Guzman, once a romantic pair, have demonstrated that professionalism and mutual respect can transcend past relationships. The two stars, who previously kindled a romance during their time on the Kapamilya afternoon drama based on the novel “El Paraiso,” have recently reunited for the film “3 Days 2 Nights in Poblacion,” directed by RC Delos Reyes and also featuring Jasmine Curtis-Smith.
Imperial disclosed that before accepting the project, she was informed about De Guzman’s involvement, which initially gave her slight apprehension due to their long period of separation. However, her eagerness to collaborate once again outweighed any reservations. “Before I said yes to this project, they really told me that JM would be my co-star. I was a bit nervous because I hadn’t seen him in so long. But I was more excited about working with him again,” she shared during the movie’s premiere night in Mandaluyong.
Addressing a kissing scene with De Guzman in the film, Imperial expressed her initial discomfort and her request to the director to make it “sweeter,” underscoring her commitment to fulfilling the demands of the storyline while maintaining a level of comfort.
Both Imperial and De Guzman have moved past their previous relationship, focusing on their growth and maturity. Imperial emphasized, “We’re really okay. Whatever happened in the past, it’s all in the past. We were younger so now, we’re more mature,” indicating a healthy and respectful co-existence. De Guzman, for his part, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with Imperial again, highlighting the positive atmosphere of their current collaboration.
This reunion not only marks a professional milestone for both actors but also serves as an example of how individuals can navigate past personal histories to achieve shared goals, proving that maturity and professionalism can pave the way for successful collaborations.
