With just over a week until GMA Network’s newest murder-mystery series “Widows’ War” hits TV screens, Bea Alonzo has shared insights about her intriguing character, Sam Castillo.

During the series’ press conference on Friday, Alonzo described Sam Castillo as a “fighter.” She elaborated, “I like that she’s a gray character na meron ding kabaliwan. She really fights for her family, which is something many viewers can relate to.” Alonzo appreciates how family-oriented Filipinos are, and this characteristic in Sam drew her to the role. “Pero ang gusto ko sa kaniya is that hindi siya tumitigil hangga’t makita niya o matagpuan niya ‘yung katotohanan.”
Working with Director Zig Dulay
Alonzo expressed excitement about working with Zig Dulay, the acclaimed director of “Maria Clara at Ibarra” and MMFF 2023 Best Picture “Firefly.” “I had always wanted to work with Zig Dulay. Buti na lang nabigyan ako ng chance to kasi hindi ko pinagsisisihan. ‘Yung proseso niya at ‘yung talento niya, talagang ishe-share niya sa aming lahat.”

“Widows’ War,” a spinoff of the popular murder-mystery series “Royal Blood” and “Widow’s Web,” also stars Carla Abellana, Tonton Gutierrez, Jean Garcia, Rita Daniela, Jeric Gonzales, Benjamin Alves, Juancho Triviño, Jackie Lou Blanco, James Graham, and more.
