Legazpi City—Bicolanos from all walks of life across the region joined hands as they launched the mass caravan for Leni on Saturday.

         The people convened at Legazpi City boulevard as soon as the day breaks,for the province-wide “Joy ride caravan for Leni”.

         At 6:00 in the morning the four kilometers Legazpi City Boulevard was jam packed with private vehicles with pink ribbons and streamers.

Free t-shirts, burger, bottled water and soft drinks given to the participants of caravan.

         At 6:30AM some 600 or so vehicles started to depart to give way for the upcoming vehicles. It was a festive day where all walks of life and all ages came together for Leni’s caravan.

         The caravan was a flaming, hot and bright pink where the genuine mass movement of the Bicolanos showed off for the first time to express their support over the candidacy of Bicolana presidential candidate Vice Pres. Leni Robredo.

Retired Engr. Ed Jovero,72, from South Cotabato, Mindanao along with his 73-years old wife, Dr. Segrid Jovero, a Bicolana physician joined the motorcade from Legazpi heading to first district to third district of Albay as the culminating point of the motorcade.  

 When asked why he and his wife opted to join the motorcade for Leni, he said that he wants to call on the people to support Leni’s candidacy.

“Leni has a proven track record of good governance and she is the best example of a good leader who is looking after the interest and welfare of the public,” he said.

 “I’m for Leni caravan to tell the younger generation not to vote for Bongbong Marcos. To tell the youth to vote for Leni with a clean and remarkable good governance track record,” Jovero said.

         Christopher Dy-Liacco Flores, former mayor of Guinobatan town and President of Leni Pink Army said that at least 30 organizations joined hands for the caravan.

         “There were so many Leni support groups. The UP Alumni Association – Mayon Chapter, Solid Leni Bicol, Sama sama Kay Leni Pink Army, Sama sama Kay Leni Pink Ribbon Movement, President Leni Frontliners, VPL Volunteers, Albay People Power Movement and so many others,” Flores said.

         The caravan was simultaneously kicked off in Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Masbate, Camarines Sur, and Sorsogon. 

         The caravan for Leni was done in the provinces of Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Masbate, Sorsogon and Catanduanes. All activities are purely volunteer-driven initiatives of the people.

         Yesterday the Universidad de Sta. Isabel in Naga City illuminated its iconic and historic façade in pink where Vice President Leni Robredo is an alumna.

Mayor Noel Rosal of Legazpi is the first local politician who carried through the candidacy of VP Leni but as of the moment, Tabaco City Mayor Krisel Lagman Luistro also backed VP Leni’s candidacy. (By: Rhaydz B. Barcia)
