A woman set to marry in September was killed in a motorcycle accident in Sta. Ana, Manila, as reported by Jhomer Apresto on 24 Oras Weekend.

CCTV footage showed the victim riding tandem on a motorcycle with her fiancé, approaching an intersection along Pedro Gil Street in Barangay 876. Suddenly, another motorcycle from the opposite lane turned left, colliding with their vehicle.

“I heard a loud crash. When I looked, I saw two motorcycles had collided. The woman was at the end,” recounted Barangay Councilor Jarel Guiriba.

The woman was thrown off the motorcycle and rolled several meters on the road. She was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

“The driver of the other motorcycle was taken to the Orthopedic Hospital for medical attention. The fiancé, who was also injured, received treatment as well,” stated Manila Police District spokesperson Police Major Philipp Ines.

Suspect in Custody

The suspect, now in the custody of the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit, claimed he was buying motorcycle parts when the accident occurred. “When I was about to turn, I noticed my motorcycle was moving too fast. I am asking for forgiveness; I didn’t mean for this to happen,” he said.

The suspect faces charges of reckless driving resulting in homicide. Guiriba noted that the area is prone to accidents due to its numerous intersections.
