March 8, 2025 – The Philippine Coast Guard’s (PCG) BRP Cabra successfully held its position against the massive China Coast Guard vessel 3105 despite facing rough sea conditions on Saturday.
According to a PCG statement, the 44-meter BRP Cabra remained steadfast 95 nautical miles off Zambales, enduring waves as high as five meters while asserting the country’s rights within its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
The PCG continues to challenge the illegal presence of Chinese vessels in Philippine waters, emphasizing violations of international law, including UNCLOS and the 2016 Arbitral Award.
PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to protecting its sovereignty, stating:
“We will not allow any foreign power to encroach upon our territory. The PCG will continue to deploy vessels to safeguard our waters and prevent any attempts to change the status quo.”
