Actress Claudine Barretto has asked for prayers for her mother, Estrella “Inday” Barretto, who has been diagnosed with lupus. Barretto shared the news on her Instagram, posting a photo of her mother’s hospital bed at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Bonifacio Global City. She revealed that her mother, 87, has been confined for over a week due to her condition.
“Mom, we love and need you dearly. Please get well soon. Palanggas, please pray for my Mom,” Barretto wrote, adding that her mother is her only surviving parent, following the death of her father, Miguel Alvir Barretto, in 2019.
The actress also expressed her gratitude to her relatives for their support and admitted that the stress of caring for her mother has taken a toll on her health, as she struggles with eating and sleeping.
In a heartfelt message, she asked her followers to include her in their prayers, sharing that she has dropped to 97 pounds and has been unable to rest properly due to the emotional weight of her mother’s illness.
Barretto continues to focus on her mother’s recovery, having previously stated her commitment to caring for her after a robbery at their family home in Subic, Zambales, earlier this year nearly sent her mother to the ICU.
