Nearly a year after being honored with the Voice for Change award at Miss Universe 2023, Michelle Dee disclosed that she has yet to receive the accolade. Dee, who earned the award for her advocacy on autism awareness, shared the news in her Instagram Broadcast channel on September 16, calling it the “most personal” recognition of her pageant journey.
The beauty queen and actress emphasized the significance of the award, rooted in her dedication to supporting individuals with autism, a cause close to her heart due to her two brothers being on the spectrum. Despite her passion and commitment, Dee admitted she is “still waiting” for the actual award and expressed hope that it would be given before the next round of winners is announced.
Dee also highlighted the collaborative spirit that contributed to her success, noting that the Bayanihan spirit, which symbolizes unity and teamwork, played a crucial role in her win. She remains optimistic and looks forward to hearing about the advocacies of the upcoming Miss Universe 2024 delegates.
The Miss Universe Organization has not yet commented on Dee’s statement. Along with the Voice for Change award, Dee also won Best in National Costume, Spirit of Carnival Award, and Fan Vote Winner during her Miss Universe 2023 campaign, where she finished in the Top 10.
