Legazpi City – Couple from Laguna fell the hands of the composite forces of Philippine National Police in Naga City and Camarines Sur for possession of P13.6 million worth of illegal drugs in a buy bust operation on Thursday evening.

Arrested were Ernan C. Tobias, 45, and Nelynn M. Tobias, 40, a resident of Sitio Uno, Patimbao, Santa Cruz, Laguna.

The Tobias couple was arrested by the composite forces of police operatives at around 9:11PM at Diversion Road, Zone 5, Barangay Tabuco, Naga City for violation of R.A 9165.

Police Lt. Col. Maria Luisa “Malu” Calubaquib, police regional spokesperson in Bicol said that police personnel of from Naga and Camarines Sur, led by Police Captain Dennis A . Altez (lead unit), together with various police units in Naga City under the supervision of Police Col. Nelson Pacalso, in coordination with Milaor police force and PDEA apprehended the suspects  considered as high value target.

The Tobias couple fell the hands of the law enforcers after the poseur buyer together with the confidential informant was able to buy from the suspects  a  one piece of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected as shabu weighing more or less 500 grams of shabu worth P1,100,000.00 using one piece genuine 500-peso bill on the top of boodle money.

Subsequently after the police operatives conducted a body search and search to the vehicle Ford Ranger with plate number DAP 1810 used by the suspects.

Recovered the suspects were one green 7-11 eco bag containing two pieces sealed transparent plastic both containing white crystalline substance suspected as shabu weighing more or less 1500 grams; “thank you” white plastic containing the marked money and boodle money; gray sling bag containing one unit Taurus cal 9mm pistol inserted with magazine with 4 live ammos; wallet containing assorted IDs of Nelynn Tobias. 

Calubaquib said that a total of more or less 2000 grams of illegal drugs with street value of P13,600,000.00.

Charges against the suspects are now being readied by the authorities. (Raydes B. Barcia)
