Residents of Bataraza, Palawan experienced a startling encounter when a large crocodile was spotted under a house near the shore. The incident, captured in a video and reported on Friday, showed the reptile appearing around 8 p.m. on Thursday and lingering for a short while before retreating back to the water.
Crocodile sightings are not uncommon in Bataraza, but this incident has heightened concerns among residents about the potential danger these reptiles pose, particularly to children. In response to these encounters, experts have issued warnings against approaching or touching crocodiles. They advise using a piece of wood to scare away any crocodile that wanders into a home. Additionally, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ animal control group should be contacted immediately to handle such situations safely.
Bataraza is recognized by the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development as one of the most crocodile-infested areas in Palawan, underscoring the need for constant vigilance and adherence to safety guidelines by the local residents.
