Dave Gomez has officially been named the new chief of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), Malacañang announced Thursday.
The appointment was confirmed by Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro during a media briefing. Gomez, a seasoned professional in media and communications, brings a wealth of experience to the post. He previously worked as a senior journalist, served as Director General of the Philippine Information Agency, and held a communications leadership role at PMFTC Inc.
“Secretary Dave will ensure clear and truthful government messaging for every Filipino,” Castro said.
The PCO has not yet released the schedule for Gomez’s oath-taking ceremony.
Gomez becomes the fifth person to lead the PCO under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., following Trixie Angeles, Cheloy Garafil, Cesar Chavez, and most recently, Jay Ruiz.
Ruiz, whose appointment as PCO secretary was deferred by the Commission on Appointments, will now serve on the Board of Directors of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the PCO, calling his five-month term a “profound learning experience” in public service.
In his statement, Ruiz thanked President Marcos for his continued trust and congratulated Gomez, expressing confidence that the agency will flourish under his leadership.
