David Licauco opened up about love, heartbreak, and healing in an emotional one-on-one interview with Jessica Soho on Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho. The actor, dubbed “Pambansang Ginoo,” shared that he is now open to love again and described his ideal partner as someone caring, intelligent, self-aware, and supportive of his career.

“I like someone who has dreams and accepts me for who I am,” he said, adding he prefers women with “chinita” features but not too much.

When it comes to love, David admitted he goes all in. “I’ll chop wood or fetch water from a stream—whatever it takes to show love,” he joked, adding that he believes in giving his all in relationships.

He also addressed the rumors surrounding his closeness with Barbie Forteza, emphasizing that they only started getting closer after her breakup with longtime boyfriend Jak Roberto. “We’re really good friends,” David clarified, praising Barbie’s acting skills as key to their strong on-screen chemistry.

While fans wonder if there’s a future for them off-screen, David said he’s not rushing things and believes they’re both focused on personal growth for now.

David also got deeply personal, recalling the loss of his best friend in a tragic car accident in 2013. Surviving the crash because of a parking attendant’s reminder to wear a seatbelt, he said, “That saved my life. If not for him, I wouldn’t be here now.”

He shared that the trauma changed him and led him to value life, relationships, and the importance of telling loved ones how much they matter.
