MANILA – David Licauco got candid about love and dating in a recent vlog with Toni Gonzaga, admitting that being a celebrity has made finding the right partner more complicated.
The “Pambansang Ginoo” shared that he would ideally like to date someone outside of the entertainment industry. “Honestly, I prefer someone non-showbiz,” he said. “But I’m not closing my doors—being with someone in the industry might mean they understand my world better.”
Licauco admitted that dating can be tricky for someone in the limelight. “When you’re popular, some people assume you’re just a player or that you have many girls,” he said. “It changes how they treat you.”
As for his ideal partner, David revealed he’s drawn to someone pretty, fair-skinned, and “chinita but not too chinita.” More importantly, he values personality traits like empathy, presence, and being grounded. “I like someone who isn’t always on their phone or social media—someone who’s truly present,” he added.
Most of all, he wants someone who will love and care for him, and understand the demanding nature of his career.
David’s on-screen chemistry with Barbie Forteza in Maria Clara at Ibarra earned them the love team name “BarDa.” Following their success, they starred in Pulang Araw and That Kind of Love in 2024, with another project lined up for 2025.
He’s also set to appear in the upcoming film Samahan ng mga Makasalanan, alongside Sanya Lopez and Liezel Lopez.
