MANILA – Vice President Sara Duterte arrived back in the Philippines on Sunday night after spending over three weeks in The Hague, Netherlands, to support her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is facing charges before the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Her office confirmed that her flight landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at around 9:56 p.m. The Vice President is expected to address the public and resume her official duties in the coming days.

Rodrigo Duterte was arrested in the Philippines on March 11 on an ICC warrant over alleged crimes against humanity linked to his administration’s controversial war on drugs. He was transferred to The Hague the following day. Sara Duterte joined him shortly after, arriving in the Netherlands on March 13 to help organize his legal defense team.

While she was abroad, events continued unfolding back home. Vice President Duterte is also set to face trial following her impeachment by the House of Representatives in February. The charges against her include alleged misuse of confidential funds.
