MAYNILA – Ipinaliwanag ng Department of Education nitong Lunes, Pebrero 20, na hindi binili ng ahensya ang umanong overpriced na camera na kumalat sa social media.
Sa mensahe ng tagapagsalita ng DepEd na si Michael Poa, sinabi niyang galing sa lokal na pamahalaan ang naturang camera na nasa mahigit P150,000 ang umanong halaga base sa larawan na kumalat.
“The Department has traced the now-deleted post of photojournalist Jhun Dantes, and shared by the account of a certain Renato Reyes, of a Canon 1500D camera with a DepEd sticker attached indicating an acquisition cost of P155,929, as a property of the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Imus City,” ani Poa.
“The camera was given by the Local Government Unit to the SDO. DepEd did not have any participation or involvement in the procurement process of the subject cameras,” dagdag pa niya.
Kumalat sa social media ang nasabing larawan ng overpriced na camera na ipinaskil ni Dantes matapos ibahagi rin ng isang aktibista na si Reyes, dahil na rin sa halagang nakatala sa label nito, malayo sa totoong presyo nito na nasa halos P34,000 base sa website ng Canon, tatak ng camera.
Sinabi rin ni Poa kalaunan na handang tumanggap ng DepEd ang opisyal na ulat ng Blue Ribbon Committee mula sa Senado kaugnay ang natagpuang proyekto ng procurement ng laptop ng DepEd noong 2021 ay overpriced ng hindi bababa sa P979-milyon.
