A public school teacher from Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School in Davao City may face disciplinary actions due to harsh comments made on Facebook against Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo after one of her supporters lodged a complaint before the Department of Education Region (DepEd) XI.
Jed Avik, the complainant, took the initiative to file a case after seeing the comment made by a teacher posted on a political blogger’s page that read:
“18 hours daw siya nag work tapos 6hours lang iyang tulog, sumatotal baho siyag [censored] kay walay ligo-ligo.”
([Robredo] is working for 18 hours and she only has 6 hours of sleep. That means she stinks because she doesn’t take a bath.)
DepEd XI spokesperson Jenielito “Dodong” Atillo confirmed they received the complaint and has received orders from DepEd Undersecretary Revsee Escobedo to look into the issue.
The sanctions against the teacher will be based on the results of the investigation.
In light of the incident, Atillo reminded the teachers to exercise caution when posting and sharing on social media.
Meanwhile, Avik confirmed that he is still waiting for the results of the investigation.
“Hindi natin ito tatantanan (We will not disregard this). People need to understand that there are consequences to their actions,” he posted on his Facebook wall.”
