Early Monday morning, a severe fire ravaged a residential area in Barangay Rosario, Pasig City, causing extensive damage and leaving many residents without their possessions. The fire, which broke out near the West Bank Floodway, was reported shortly after 4 a.m. and quickly escalated to a third alarm, prompting the response of 12 fire trucks.
Firefighters from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and various volunteer groups worked diligently to bring the blaze under control by before 6 a.m., and by 7 a.m., the fire was officially declared extinguished. Despite their efforts, approximately fifty homes constructed from light materials were completely destroyed.
The residents faced immense challenges as the fire spread rapidly, exacerbated by the direction of the wind, making it impossible for them to salvage any belongings. The BFP has announced plans to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fire, as well as to assess the full extent and estimated cost of the property damage.
This incident adds to a troubling trend of fires in the region, emphasizing the ongoing risks and the critical need for effective fire safety measures and awareness in densely populated communities.
