Dingdong Dantes has shown full support for his former co-star Aidan Veneracion, who stars in the new historical drama “Pulang Araw.”
Aidan, a young actor from Sparkle, shared behind-the-scenes clips from the show’s pilot episode on Instagram. In a memorable scene early in the first episode, Aidan’s character Mario tragically dies, delivering final words to Eduardo, portrayed by Alden Richards.
Dingdong, who previously played Aidan’s on-screen father in “Royal Blood,” praised the young actor’s performance in the comments. “Husay mo. I am so proud of you,” wrote the Kapuso Primetime King.
Aidan responded, “Thank you so much po, Tito/Dad @dongdantes!! Happy birthday po ulit and hope to see you soon.”
“Pulang Araw” follows the intertwined lives of four childhood friends—Adelina (Barbie Forteza), Teresita (Sanya Lopez), Hiroshi (David Licauco), and Eduardo (Alden Richards)—as they navigate the challenges of war and Japanese occupation in the Philippines. Their dreams, friendships, and loyalties are put to the test, leading them on a journey of self-discovery and resilience.
The drama made a strong debut on Netflix on July 26, quickly becoming a trending topic on X and securing the No. 1 spot on the platform’s list of “Top 10 TV Shows in the Philippines Today.” The show is also airing on GMA Prime.
