John Arcilla has expressed high praise for Marian Rivera’s participation in the film “Balota.”
Sharing the trailer on his Instagram, the award-winning actor lauded Marian for her choice to work on a film addressing relevant issues immediately after the success of the blockbuster film “Rewind,” which grossed billions of pesos. “I think it is such an admirable act,” Arcilla wrote. “It is indeed a gesture of giving back to the industry where she found her passion. Salute to @marianrivera and God bless you more! I will definitely watch this film.”
Arcilla also invited everyone to catch “Balota” at the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival from August 2 to 11. Marian appreciated John’s words and commented, “Salamat po ng marami.”
Marian’s husband, Dingdong Dantes, also expressed gratitude, commenting, “Salamat, Heneral.”
“Balota” centers on a land-grabbing tycoon and a former male sexy actor in a fierce race for the mayoral seat of a small town. Marian plays Emmy, a teacher serving in the election who runs into the wilderness with a ballot box, the last copy of the election results, when violence erupts in their town.
The role brought Marian a renewed sense of fulfillment at work.
John Arcilla is well-known for his role as Antonio Luna in Jerrold Tarog’s “Heneral Luna.”
