The Department of Health (DOH) is working closely with the Philippine Heart Center (PHC) to ramp up the training of highly skilled heart doctors and expand access to cardiac care outside Metro Manila. Under this initiative, the PHC is partnering with regional hospitals to build satellite heart centers and enhance the capacity of local health systems to handle complex heart conditions.
A key part of the plan includes strengthening the PHC’s education and fellowship programs, making sure that regional hospitals get support in training cardiologists and cardiac care staff to international standards. This effort also involves bringing in standardized life support training and advanced cardiac protocols to the regions, aiming to reduce the strain on the PHC itself.
The overarching goal: to produce more world-class heart specialists, shift advanced cardiac care closer to where Filipinos live, and ultimately ensure that specialized heart treatment becomes more equitable and accessible nationwide.
