A Philippine Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) plane conducting a maritime patrol over Panatag (Scarborough) Shoal reported receiving around 40 radio challenges from a Chinese Navy warship during a three-hour flight.
The Filipino pilots firmly responded each time, insisting their aircraft was performing a lawful mission within the country’s exclusive economic zone and urging the Chinese to “review your chart,” according to their radio transmissions.
