The Department of Public Works and Highways-Cebu 6th District Engineering recently inaugurated a multi-purpose building, road asphalting with solar lights and drainage system in barangay Babag, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

“Kining atong infra projects labi naning drainage subay kini sa atong tinguha nga atong masulbad ang problema sa baha sa atong dakbayan”, said Lapu-Lapu City Lone District Representative Paz Radaza.

(These infrastructure projects especially the drainage is in line with our efforts to solve the flooding problem in our city).

Radaza said these infrastructure projects are among her priorities as the city’s representative.

She said that DPWH has allocated P75 million for the construction of the three-storey multi-purpose building worth P10 million, the 1.5 kilometer road asphalting with solar studs and solar lights worth P45 million and the 837 meter drainage system worth P20 million.

The legislator said that the multi-purpose building will house the day care center, livelihood center and other training to be conducted in the new multipurpose building.

(I am happy that these infrastructure projects will be of used for the people of Barangay Babag and all Opanganons who will benefit these projects).

Radaza said she prioritizes the construction of drainage as she sees a difficult situation in areas affected by flood like in Luzon and some areas in the Visayas.

(We do not want big floods in our city and now as congresswoman, one can see that our roads have ongoing drainage projects that I pursued and implemented by DPWH-7 to solve the flooding problem in our city). (By: April Therese Tan)
