Caroline Joyeux, the girlfriend of world No. 3 pole vaulter EJ Obiena, participated in the International Coastal Cleanup Drive held in Pasay City. The event, organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Philippine Coast Guard, took place at Central Park, SM by the Bay on September 21.
Obiena proudly shared photos of Joyeux on Instagram, where she was seen picking up and segregating trash. “She is nice to the environment more than to me,” Obiena joked in the caption, adding, “In all seriousness, I’m proud of this munchkin.”
Several celebrities and volunteers also took part in the cleanup, including Sparkle stars Shuvee Etrata, Nikki Co, John Clifford, Seb Pajarillo, Zyren Dela Cruz, and 30 GMA Network employee-volunteers, in partnership with the “Kapuso at Kasambuhay ng Kalikasan” initiative.
Joyeux, a German athlete, and Obiena have been together since 2020 after meeting at a training camp in Italy. Obiena, who finished fourth in the 2024 Paris Olympics, has often credited Joyeux as a positive influence, saying she inspires him to be a better person.
