Filipino-Korean police officer Oh Jun Young, also known as Julius Manalo, was tearfully reunited with his mother after over three decades apart. In an interview on “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho,” Julius shared the emotional journey that led him to finally meet his mother, Oh Geum Nim.

Julius’s parents met in Korea, but he was brought to the Philippines by his father, Eustaquio, in 1993. He grew up in Tondo, facing financial challenges and often helping his father by selling rags. He never stopped searching for his mother, despite numerous setbacks. The breakthrough came when his story was featured on a Korean TV program, eventually leading to a call from his mother.

In September, Julius traveled to Korea, where he was finally able to embrace his mother. “As I ran toward her, I felt like I was going back in time,” he shared. Their reunion was filled with tears, hugs, and words of love as they sought to make up for lost time. Julius now hopes to bridge the language barrier and create new memories with his mother, with plans for future visits.
