A forest fire engulfed a three-hectare area within Camp John Hay in Baguio City early Sunday morning, marking the fourth such incident in the city this month. Despite the rapid spread of the fire, which impacted local communication lines, there were thankfully no casualties reported.

The fire originated in the Voice of America section of Camp John Hay, as detailed by the Baguio City Public Information Office in an early morning announcement. The Philippine Air Force, through spokesperson Colonel Maria Consuelo Castillo, confirmed that the fire was under control, with no current need for Air Force intervention as per the latest updates from ground units and directives from the Office of Civil Defense.

This incident brings to light the recurring issue of forest fires in Baguio City, emphasizing the need for increased vigilance and preventive measures to protect these vital green spaces.
