Francine Diaz, the popular Kapamilya actress, made headlines after a mispronunciation incident involving the name of the K-pop group Tomorrow x Together (TXT) during the Asia Star Entertainer Awards. Diaz, who was announcing the winner of the Global K-pop Leader award, accidentally called the group “Tomorrow Times Together” instead of their correct name, “Tomorrow By Together.”
Realizing her mistake, Diaz took to Instagram Live to offer her apologies, acknowledging her lapse and explaining her relative distance from the current K-pop scene. “I’m very sorry for that very big mistake. Please excuse me because I am not that updated anymore with what is happening now in the K-pop world,” she said during the live session. She affirmed her new understanding of the group’s correct name, showing gratitude for being corrected and educated on the matter.
Diaz also shared her positive personal interaction with TXT members, describing them as exceptionally kind and courteous during their shared time backstage. “In fairness, they were very kind when I went down the stairs with them, they let me walk first. They offered me a seat. They are very kind,” she recounted.
Furthermore, Diaz expressed her gratitude towards the fans of TXT, known as MOAs, who responded to the incident with humor and understanding, rather than criticism. This gracious response from the fans made it easier for Diaz to navigate the aftermath of her misstep.
The Asia Star Entertainer Awards featured a host of other notable figures from the K-pop industry, making the event a significant gathering of talent, which Francine Diaz was honored to be part of despite the hiccup.
