Bonifacio Global City (BGC) has addressed an alleged pickpocketing incident involving Korean football player Yi Young Park in the central business district of Taguig. The incident occurred on July 4 around 6 p.m., and BGC has assured the public of its commitment to maintaining safety in the area.
In a statement to GMA News Online, BGC revealed that Yi Young Park received immediate assistance from a security officer when the incident was reported. Despite being offered additional support to file a police report at the Police Sub-Station inside BGC, Yi Young Park declined.
“BGC remains vigilant in observing measures and actively cooperating with local authorities to ensure that safety remains an utmost priority within its spaces,” the statement added.
Yi Young Park shared his experience on Instagram, explaining that he lost his wallet during the incident. According to the athlete, he was surrounded by six women who prevented him from moving quickly. After feeling something strange, he checked his bag but realized it was too late as the women had already dispersed in different directions. Yi Young Park managed to chase one of the women and retrieve his wallet, though some cash was missing.
“I hope that you all remain alert and careful so that something like this never happens again. Be safe, everyone,” Yi Young Park advised his followers.
BGC has reiterated its commitment to safety, emphasizing its active cooperation with local authorities and continuous vigilance in maintaining a secure environment for everyone.
