Hong Kong Eastern extended its winning streak to two games after defeating the Converge FiberXers, 117-106, in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Friday at Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
Strong Finish Seals Victory
Eastern built a 12-point lead early in the fourth quarter, 97-85, before Converge rallied to cut the deficit to just three, 101-98, with 4:31 remaining. Cameron Clark then took over, scoring consecutive baskets, while Glen Yang hit a crucial three-pointer to restore Eastern’s lead to 108-100.
Despite late-game pushes by Converge, led by Jordan Heading and Schonny Winston, Eastern responded with a decisive 6-0 run to secure the win.
Key Performances
Cameron Clark dominated for Eastern, finishing with 39 points, 15 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. Hayden Blankley contributed 21 points, and Glen Yang added 19 to round out the team’s top scorers.
For Converge, Cheik Diallo had a monster game with 43 points and 15 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the FiberXers from slipping to a 1-1 record. Alec Stockton added 18 points to lead the locals.
