House Speaker Martin Romualdez announced on Wednesday that he has no plans to run for senator in the 2025 elections. Instead, he intends to seek another term as the representative of Leyte’s 1st district.
Focus on Leyte’s 1st District
“Siguro ano mananatili muna ako sa 1st district of Leyte,” Romualdez told reporters during an ambush interview. “I’ll just do my work kasi marami pang kailangan tapusin sa [there’s still a lot to be done in the] 1st district ng Leyte.”
Future Political Ambitions
When asked about the possibility of running for President in the 2028 elections, Romualdez dismissed the notion, saying, “Matagal pa ‘yun [that’s still far].”
Romualdez is the cousin of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
