AMSTERDAM – The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague announced on Thursday the issuance of arrest warrants for three high-profile figures: Hamas leader Mohammed Deif (full name Mohammed Diab Ibrahim Al-Masri), Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
The ICC clarified that Israel’s acceptance of its jurisdiction was not necessary for the warrants to be issued.
The charges highlight ongoing tensions in the region as the court steps into the fraught conflict between Israel and Hamas.
