Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated on Tuesday that no formal ceasefire agreement has been reached with Israel, contradicting an earlier announcement from U.S. President Donald Trump.
“There is currently no agreement on a ceasefire or halt to military operations,” Araqchi posted on social media, clarifying Iran’s stance following Trump’s statement that a truce would begin around 4:00 AM GMT.
However, Araqchi indicated that Tehran would cease its military response if Israel halted its attacks by that time. “If the Israeli regime ends its unlawful aggression against the Iranian people by 4 a.m. Tehran time, we have no intention of continuing our response,” he said.
Earlier, Trump had claimed that a “complete and total” ceasefire between Iran and Israel had been brokered to end the 12-day conflict. He praised both nations for their “stamina, courage, and intelligence” in agreeing to end what he called “THE 12 DAY WAR.”
The deal, according to a source familiar with the talks, was facilitated by Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who secured Iran’s consent during a call with officials in Tehran. Trump also informed Qatar’s emir that Israel had accepted the terms.
There was no immediate response from Israeli officials regarding the ceasefire.
