BTS member J-Hope has officially completed his mandatory military service as of Thursday, becoming the second BTS member to do so. The discharge took place outside a military base in Wonju, where J-Hope greeted the Korean media in an informal setting. Fellow BTS member Jin, the first of the group to be discharged, was on-site to welcome him back.
Though there was no formal ceremony, fans watched a livestream from Korea Now, Yonhap News Agency’s official English YouTube channel, to catch a glimpse of J-Hope as he returned to civilian life.
Before his enlistment, J-Hope released his debut solo album, Jack in the Box, in 2022, followed by Hope on the Street Vol. 1 earlier this year. Additionally, his solo documentary, J-Hope in the Box, which premiered on Disney+ in February, provided fans with a personal look at his solo projects and preparations for his Lollapalooza performance.
BTS, who renewed their contracts with BIGHIT MUSIC in 2023, is expected to regroup in 2025
