PDP-Laban senatorial candidate Jesus “Jayvee” Hinlo is advocating for amendments to the Data Privacy Act and Bank Secrecy Law to strengthen the country’s anti-corruption efforts.

In a Facebook post, Hinlo proposed giving the Office of the Ombudsman direct access to crucial documents without needing a court order to investigate corrupt government officials effectively.

“Sa ating laban kontra korapsyon, kailangang repasuhin at amyendahan ang Data Privacy Act at Bank Secrecy Law upang mapahintulutan ang Ombudsman na mangalap ng ebidensya laban sa mga tiwaling opisyal nang walang court order,” he stated.

Economic Platform: Job Creation Through Industrialization and Agriculture

Beyond anti-corruption measures, Hinlo outlined his economic agenda, emphasizing job creation through industrialization, large-scale farming, and fisheries management.

He envisions local manufacturing of essential goods such as weapons, vehicles, aircraft, ships, machinery, and pharmaceuticals. To support this, he proposes amending the Procurement Law, requiring the government to prioritize locally made products, even if they cost 10% more than imported alternatives.

“Kung prayoridad ng gobyerno ang produktong Pilipino, mahihikayat natin ang mga negosyante na magtayo ng pabrika dito sa bansa,” Hinlo explained.

State-Led Farming and Fisheries Development

Hinlo also promotes government-managed farming and fisheries to generate employment, suggesting that public lands and leased private lands be used for agriculture and food production. He believes this will create jobs in:

  • Farming and warehousing
  • Rice mills and food processing
  • Logistics and distribution centers

For the fishing industry, he proposes state participation in commercial fishing, seafood processing, and storage to provide jobs for small-scale fishermen. Additionally, he suggests that workers in government-run farms and fisheries should be exempt from the Civil Service Examination, except for managerial roles.

Education Reforms

Hinlo also seeks to integrate subjects on Philippine patriotism and ethics into the national curriculum from elementary school to college.

As the 2025 elections approach, his proposals highlight a state-driven approach to economic growth, job creation, and anti-corruption reforms.
