Jennylyn Mercado was prepared to attend the GMA Gala 2024 last Saturday, but had to cancel her appearance when her son, Alex Jazz, fell ill with the flu.

On Instagram, the Ultimate Star’s hairstylist, Bianca Anne Vergara, shared photos of Jennylyn’s intended look for the gala. The Kapuso actress was set to wear a stunning black mermaid-cut gown with her hair styled in a classic, understated fashion.

“This was supposed to be it. Everything was ready,” Bianca said. “If only we could rewind the GMA Ball.”

Bianca explained that Jennylyn was all set for the event, but due to the emergency with her eldest son, she and her husband, Dennis Trillo, prioritized their family. As parents, their children come first, leading Jennylyn to decide against attending the gala.

Bianca added, “We hope everyone understands what happened. We’ll make up for it next year.” She concluded her post with, “Our Ultimate Star Jennylyn Mercado,” tagging the rest of Jennylyn’s glam team and her manager, Becky Aguila.

Jennylyn appreciated Bianca’s post, as did many of her fans.

Dennis Trillo attended the GMA Gala solo, impressing onlookers in a custom white suit by Ziggy Savella. He even shared an Instagram Reel of himself doing the “Watashi Wa Star” dance challenge at the afterparty.

On Monday, Jennylyn posted a humorous video on Instagram, showcasing her inner supermodel in the same gown she had planned to wear to the gala.

Celebrating her 20th year in the entertainment industry, Jennylyn is working on a new album, with a recording studio photo shared earlier this year. She and Dennis are also set to star in the romantic comedy “Everything About My Wife,” their first film together as a married couple. Dennis will also appear in his first antagonist role as Col. Yuta Saitoh in the family drama “Pulang Araw,” premiering on Netflix on July 26 and on television on July 29.
