Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto, popularly known as JoshLia, are set to light up the big screen once again in their new film “Un/happy For You.” This project marks their first movie collaboration in four years and promises to reignite the chemistry that made them a beloved duo in Philippine cinema.

Announced during a “New Movie Alert” virtual media conference hosted by Star Cinema and VIVA Films, the film is directed by Petersen Vargas. The anticipation for this reunion is high, as both actors have significantly matured since their last project together. Garcia expressed his enthusiasm for the film, noting the growth both he and Barretto have experienced since they were teenagers. “It’s been a while since our last project. We were teenagers then. Now, you can say that we’ve matured and grown. It’s exciting that we had our own journeys because we got back together in a film,” said Garcia.

Barretto also shared that there had been several attempts to reunite them on screen, but timing and circumstances never aligned until now. She feels that “Un/happy For You” came at just the right time, describing the project as the right material when both are in a good place in their lives.

The film will explore themes of love and reconciliation, as hinted by a look test shared by the production company, which showed the actors in a tense confrontation scene, likely exploring the complexities of their characters’ relationship.

“Un/happy For You” follows their last joint venture in the 2020 film “Block Z.” Known for their performances in films like “Vince and Kath and James,” “Love You To The Stars and Back,” and the teleserye “Ngayon at Kailanman,” the duo has maintained a friendship post their breakup in 2019. While Barretto is currently dating Gerald Anderson, Garcia is rumored to be with Emilienne Vigier.

Details on the film’s co-stars and premiere date are still forthcoming. Fans of JoshLia are eagerly awaiting more updates as they prepare to see the duo rekindle their on-screen magic in “Un/happy For You.”
