Kapuso network’s shining talents are gearing up to leave their mark on the theatrical stage, with Anthony Rosaldo, Thea Astley, and Garrett Bolden securing prominent roles in the eagerly awaited 2024 production of the iconic Broadway musical “Rent.” The announcement by 9 Works Theatrical has set the stage for what promises to be an enthralling performance by this talented trio.

Anthony Rosaldo is set to bring life to the character of Roger, while Thea Astley will step into the shoes of Mimi. Garrett Bolden is ready to impress audiences with his portrayal of Tom Collins. Their involvement is part of a dynamic cast, which also includes Ian Pangilinan and Reb Atadero sharing the role of Mark, Molly Langley and Jasmine Fitzgerald alternating as Maureen, and Adrian Lindayag along with Lance Reblando taking turns to embody the character of Angel.

This is not the first stint in the spotlight for these stars. Anthony Rosaldo previously showcased his talents in “Ang Huling El Bimbo,” captivating audiences with his portrayal of young Hector. Thea Astley is already a familiar face in the music world as a member of “Queendom,” sharing the stage with notable talents like Julie Anne San Jose and Rita Daniela. Garrett Bolden, known as the “Kapuso Soul Balladeer,” has also demonstrated his stage prowess, most recently in “Beauty and the Beast: The Broadway Musical” in Guam.

The Manila staging of “Rent,” announced during the final curtain call of “Tick, Tick…Boom!” in September 2023, is poised to be a highlight of the theatrical calendar. Since its Broadway debut in 1996, “Rent” has touched the hearts of audiences worldwide, delving into the lives of young artists navigating the complexities of life, love, and the challenges of living with HIV/AIDS in New York City.

As the curtain rises on this new production, fans and theater enthusiasts alike are brimming with anticipation for the performances of these Kapuso stars, ready to witness a fresh rendition of a timeless musical narrative.
