Fugitive pastor Apollo Quiboloy, leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), was captured on September 8, 2024, in Davao City, as confirmed by Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos. A photo shared on Facebook showed Quiboloy with his lawyer, Israelito Torreon, following his apprehension. Quiboloy had been hiding inside the KOJC compound since police began searching for him on August 24.
Quiboloy faces multiple charges, including violations of the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act (RA 7610) and non-bailable qualified human trafficking charges under RA 9208. He is also indicted in the U.S. for sex trafficking and other related crimes.
Despite his lawyer’s claim that Quiboloy surrendered voluntarily to the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces (ISAFP), police maintained they had found him in the compound after an extensive search.
